Book Review: Earth Star

Book #2 in an incredible series set in the future--this time ALIENS!!! Mwah ha ha!

Earth Star
by Janet Edwards
Earth Star (Earth Girl, #2)

Jarra has won the coveted Artemis award--and she's an ape.  She is a human that cannot leave the planet Earth, which would have been fine in the 2000s.  But now there are planets all over the universe that humans can portal to with ease.  Jarra cannot.  Stuck on Earth, and regarded as less than human, Jarra must fight even harder at the university to outwit her classmates and earn her History Degree.

When the unthinkable happens--contact with an alien race, Jarra is the only one with Earth knowledge to save the human race.  Will she be able to decipher the alien message?  Will her classmates and dignitaries around the world--and universe--let her do what needs to be done?

Janet Edwards is such a great author--I feel like she writes for Young Adults, but has an adult feel.  This is probably because she is a talented writer--not content to write the usual fru-fru junk that you find in a lot of YA books.

Jarra is a strong individual, and she remains that way throughout the entire book.  She puts her boyfriend in his place, as well as her teachers and military personnel.  Edwards makes all of that sound believable, which is one of the reasons why the book is so good.  I highly recommend this whole series.  It's Sci-Fi without the Dystopia, which is sooooo fantastic!
